So I am working on finishing up Vishen Lakhiani’s book, The Code of the Extraordinary Mind and came across a gem that I thought was definitely worthy of talking about here. This gem I am speaking of, if you hadn’t guessed, is self fueled goals.

A self fueled goal is one that you have absolute control over and cannot be taken away from you by anyone.

I like the idea of this type of goal that Vishen brought up. It makes a lot of sense to me. As it should to you.

The self fueled goal he brought up first is this:

“I will always be surrounded by love”surrounded by love

That goal is totally within your control versus something like “to be madly in love with Steve” or “Sarah will totally love me and we will live happily ever after with 3 kids and a dog and a cat and a white picket fence”.

You see the difference? You see how valuable and powerful that general but ecstatically appropriate goal can be for you?

Once you list a goal like that for your life sights, your mind gets busy on making things happening for you. It pulls into your reality opportunities and situations that will allow you to attain more love.

Plus there is no-one to worry about but yourself to attain it. No-one else to depend on.

Because ultimately it  is our individual responsibility to attain happiness and reach our goals.

Now this is also assuming you don’t have any paradigms to slow you down. But that is easy to take care of. Just go here.

If you don’t know what a paradigm is, read this.

The second goal Vishen brought up was this:

“I will always be learning and growing”always learning

You should know already EVERYTHING is always changing and/or growing. Everything. So it makes sense for us humans to do the same thing.

But we don’t just have to change, we can thrive.

One of my main goals has always been to learn something new constantly.  Before I heard it from Vishen, even. I am also always keeping a keen eye for new things I have never seen before.

I have trained my brain to look for these things.

Sometimes experiencing new things can be as simple as human watching.  Watching humans is fun. Especially in airports. Or large cities like New York City. One of my favorites places to human watch, actually.  Better than airports because they are in their own element so much more relaxed.

But I digress…

My point is is that it is totally within your grasp to learn something new everyday. Just pick up a newspaper or be curious and ask questions. Like a child would.

The  final self fueled goal Vishen lists is:

“I will always have the most amazing and beautiful human experiences”amazing experience

Life is a gift we should always be thankful and grateful for.  We should not spoil this gift by not enjoying life and not being happy.

Isn’t that just a waste?

And although having goals is good to have, you should still enjoy what you have in the moment you have it.

This goal sums that up perfectly.

No matter what you are doing, make it joyous to the greatest extent that you can.

Realize that even if you are not totally enjoying the moment then you can go back to self fueled goal #2-You will be learning and growing.

So you can STILL get the most out of everyday.

You can still thrive each and every day.

You just gotta figure out the right perspective to make it so.

Again. Self fueled goals put your life within your power. No-one else’s. Since you have that power, you have nothing to lose.

Since there is nothing to lose, there is no reason for fear. Any fear.

You are free to live life on your own terms.

How is that for powerful?

These three self fueled goals are very fitting for me and I think they can be used for you as well. But you don’t have to stop there. Now that you can see what has been done here, you can create self fueled goals that apply to your own life.

Having self fueled goals also means that you are not concerned with what anyone else thinks of you. Which is something that you should be practicing anyways, right?

So use these or make you some of your own self fueled goals to help you live your life to the fullest.

You will be glad that you did.

I am hoping that this post as well as any other on this site has helped you in some way. Please let me know as I would to hear your thoughts. Also please share if you think this is worthy to someone else.
