Rewarding skills to learn

We all have our faults that we need to work on. Actually being able to step back and realize what those faults are and then not letting your ego hinder you from correcting those faults is one of many rewarding skills all in its own. That takes awareness. And will power.

With that being said, being able to handle the constructive criticism of fellow humans telling you what they think your faults are and not be offended by the comments affecting your good name is also a good skill.

Nobody is perfect. And noone can be good at everything. You can be you. You have to be you. Everyone else is already taken.

With that being said, I would like to convey a list of things that being aware of can make a big difference in your life. They are not skills taught in school for the most part, but important nonetheless.

Lets get started.

Sleepsleep is healthy

I have brought up this subject many times. Your body and brain needs sleep to operate at its best and only you can master that. Sure, there will be variables that influence that greatly(being a mom comes to mind), but to make sure you get your 6-8 hours of sleep is paramount. It’s up to you so you need to make it happen. You will reap numerous benefits.

Time managementtime management

Actually it is not time management that you are after but what you do with your time during your waking hours that is important. Write down what you want to accomplish during your day and do not waiver. You can play later. Plus you will feel much better at the end of the day after you accomplish your list. that will make play much better.

Thought managementthought management

Being able to talk to yourself out loud and in your head saying positive things can be daunting for some, but the rewards are boundless. It does take practice, but getting started is the hardest part. What you think about, you bring about, so saying negative things like “I can’t possibly do this” instead of “let’s just give this a try ” will make all the difference. that is just one small example.

Praise yourself.  You are the one with you all the time, so it has to be you that makes this move and makes it a habit. Look up positive affirmations online and practice some. Use stickies and put them on your mirror or in your briefcase. That will make a big difference.

Be presentBe Present

Worrying about your future or dredging up the past in your day is not going to make your life any better. Try just being where you are grateful for what you have, savoring every moment. Life is a gift, you know. But what you do with your life once it is given to you is your choice. Practicing affirmations can get you to that present moment.

Pay attention to YOUR lifepayattentiontoyourlife

You have enough on your plate that you don’t need to be getting into others. What does this mean? Don’t gossip and just mind your own business.

There are so many humans out there who just skate along in life and try to do the absolute minimum. They may seem to have their crap together, but you don’t have the whole picture. You can’t have the whole picture. So just do what you are supposed to do and don’t mind others actions. That will take a lot of stress out of your life.

Listeninglistening

There is an old saying that we have two ears and one mouth for a reason.  There is a darn good reason for that saying. You will learn so much from your outer world if you listen to people genuinely and don’t be in your own head thinking of what you are going to say to that other human before they even finish. Have an open mind in all situations. You never know what you may learn if you just let your ears do the work.

Languageslanguages

This is a bit off the beaten track of what I am saying already, but learning a new language can open your mind to a whole new way of thinking. Learning a new language introduces your brain to a different mode of learning which will pay off if you give it the chance.

Honestybe honest

This is both with yourself and others.  First of all, admitting your mistakes to yourself and others can be very empowering. It also helps you to learn from those mistakes more freely.

Second of all, being honest with others is important for your own happiness. If you never tell people how you feel or if they are wrong is stressful for you and will lead to guilt later on. You are going to piss people off. That is a given if you are honest. In the long run it will pay off.

There are many things that humans can do to make life easier on themselves and others. You can practice these rewarding skills and change your life.
